A Seal

Look at a seal,
he swims in a pool
Like a piece of black thread
 unwound from a spool,

Dipping and diving,
playing about
Speaking in erps,
he laughs as we shout,

Balances a ball,
plays catch with the wind,
Smiles at his brothers
and waves to a friend.

And I watch him linger
 and I watch him turn,
I see him laughing
 free of concern.
