Jesus

Another's Walk

By Linda A. Copp

He and I walked down the road,
By the broken branches and bowing trees,
By the jagged rocks we both trod,
Until we saw the mountains,
reaching and climbing,
stretching endlessly across the sky,
Majestic and beautiful,
smiling and singing,
Beckoning the heart and soul to come,
But, awaiting another's walk not mine,
For my time had not yet come.

And so, Christ looked, and smiled to see
That I was waiting, but understood,
And then he waved good-bye to me.
And every day we walk like this,
Awaiting the hour he waves me on,
For then, this path won't be another's
but, mine and His.
