You've Bought Your Way To Heaven
By Linda A. Copp
So, You've bought your way to Heaven,
that's your chauffer by the gate.
And you've counted out your pennies,
ledgers said you needn't wait.
Ambassadors have smiled at you,
invited you to tea.
The beautiful people fathered you,
and put you way 'bove me.
Parties here and parties there,
and jewels and gold and fun,
Liquor poured, once drunk, you drank,
with a blanched and swollen tongue.
So, now, You've bought your way to Heaven,
and the money keeps rolling on,
Each and every wish you've had,
was granted, bled and gone.
Limousines and credit cards,
yachts and pools, Oh! Lord!
You've just got everything,
that Heaven's got,
And God?
