A Bitter Wine

Grapes and Glass of Wine

A promise died, a bitter wine.
Drunk my senses, till I was blind.
Torn in two, by some cruel song,
That rapped my brain, my faith once strong.

And yet, I knew, should not believe.
Too, many times, it turned to leave.
Too, many times, it failed to be.
Too, many tears, were shed by me.

I must forget, and turn away,
From those hurts that found me, here today.
For God forgives and so must I.
It's not for mercy to reason why?
