Caveman

The Club

By Linda A. Copp

He had a club, and knocked me down.
He rapped his wood, on down, on down.
He had a gun, and shot me through,
Ripped my heart, in two, in two.

And still and all,
he did 'cause,
of the man he was,
... he was.

He did it all both club and gun,
For the fellows who, said it must be done.
He did it for,  that fear inside,
that said I was, the devil's pride,
That named me villain, enemy, foe.

And I loved him then, but he didn't know,
and now, and now...

He'll never know.
