A Lantern

The Lantern
By Linda A. Copp

The lantern glows brightly
 into this night,
And under night's cover
 beams forth its light;

Moving people onward,
 onward through flight,
Destiny's flight whether just,
 wrong, or right.

The creeping silence
 of a lonely spell,
Comforted only
 by a beam to tell,

To tell of the light
 which follows a dark,
Revealing the dawn,
with one truth, one spark.
